Yes! Dr. Hersh specializes in pelvic physical therapy and has taken extensive coursework to treat men and women with a variety of pelvic health conditions and related concerns. Dr. Hersh will create and deliver your entire plan of care. You will never be seen by multiple practitioners or be shuffled off to a physical therapy aide.
Dr. Hersh evaluates and treats both men and women. If you need a recommendation for a pediatric pelvic floor therapist, please contact the office for a referral.
Dr. Hersh treats clients 18-65 years old. She provides seamless support during early adulthood, through childbearing years and into menopause. Patients know they can count on Dr. Hersh to see them through this spectrum of care without needing to find a new provider when they go through a life transition.
We see women as early as 1-2 weeks after giving birth (following vaginal and cesarean delivery)! There are numerous changes that our bodies undergo in the early weeks postpartum. We believe waiting until 6 weeks (the typical amount of time for a postpartum visit with a midwife/ OBGYN) to see a medical professional postpartum is sometimes too long. While internal exams are deferred until 6 weeks, there are numerous concerns we can address and help with as soon as you are ready to be seen. Alternatively, if getting out of the house feels overwhelming early postpartum, we offer telehealth visits so you can get the care you deserve!
Yes! In addition to treating active symptoms, Dr. Hersh welcomes patients for “wellness visits.” Some clients choose to work with Dr. Hersh while also working with a trainer/participating in routine exercise to insure they are doing so we good form, getting the most out of their effort and effectively using their core and pelvic floor.
No. Dr. Hersh evaluates and treats each client as a “whole person” to comprehensively address their symptoms & concerns instead of only focusing on one body part and losing sight of the bigger picture.
Dr. Hersh welcomes infants at the office. If childcare or baby feeding is a concern, bring your little one with you so you can get the care you deserve.
Telehealth can be an excellent option to make care accessible. In the early postpartum days, when a child is home sick or it snows, don’t worry about the stress of getting out of the house and don’t delay the care you need! Ask Dr. Hersh to see if a telehealth visit might be right for you.
You do not need a prescription to attend physical therapy.
NY state has direct access to physical therapy (no prescription required) and the law provides for a limited number of sessions (whichever occurs first: 10 visits or a period of 30 days from the start of care) before a prescription is required. Your insurance company, however, may require a prescription to reimburse you for out-of-network services provided.
Unlike at most medical offices, clients of Peaceful Pelvis Physical Therapy have the option to call, email, or text Dr. Hersh! When you contact the office, you will communicate directly with Dr. Hersh making communication easier than ever. You will never need to leave messages with an office staff and worry that your message wasn’t correctly or promptly relayed.
